MISSION

The Freedom Foundation of Minnesota is an independent, non-profit educational and research organization that develops and actively advocates the principles of individual freedom, personal responsibility, economic freedom, and limited government.

By focusing on some of the most difficult public policy issues facing Minnesota, we seek to foster greater understanding of the principles of a free society among leaders in government, the media, and the citizenry.  Founded in 2006, we hope to create a better and more vibrant future for every Minnesotan by helping shape sound public policy.  We will accomplish this important goal not by publishing lengthy, academic books and reports that no one reads.  Instead, we tackle issues important to every Minnesotan and provide real-time, proven research and policy alternatives to help further the debate.

As an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, the Freedom Foundation of Minnesota does not accept any government grants or funding.  Instead, we are proud to earn the trust and support of generous individuals, foundations, and corporations.

OUR CORE VALUES

  1. Our primary focus is limited government.  We believe that a limited government provides unlimited opportunity for its citizens.
  2. We believe in fostering open and honest debate.  We seek to become renowned for our focus on hosting serious, yet principled and respectful debate on some of the most difficult issues facing Minnesota.
  3. We seek to inspire and assist the next generation of conservative leaders in Minnesota by providing opportunities to learn and explore free-market solutions.
  4. We believe that results matter.  We constantly measure our impact on the public policy debate throughout the state.  Our goal is not to publish length, academic books and reports that no one reads.  Instead, we tackle issues important to every Minnesotan and provide real-time, policy alternatives that are of use to policymakers.

WHAT WE DO:

The Capitol Research Center” The Capitol Research Center is Minnesotans comprehensive website for free-market public policy solutions.  Interested policymakers can visit this link to learn more about free-market “best practices” on some of the most important public policy initiatives around the country.

Public Policy Primers” These brief issue summaries are designed for policy makers, the media and Minnesotans and provide a brief description of free-market policy alternatives for some of the most difficult issues facing the state.

Continuing Legislators Education or CLEs” These education al programs are open to all public policy makers and feature some of the foremost public policy experts from around the country.  Several CLEs are scheduled for 2007 and will feature policy experts in the areas of healthcare, transportation and crime.

100 Good Ideas for Minnesota’s Future” The Freedom Foundation seeks to provide Minnesotans with a vision of our great state – not as it is today but what it can and should be for our children and grandchildren.  This web-based effort seeks citizen input as we gather, literally, 100 good ideas for the future of our state.

“State of Conservatism Annual Meeting” Each year, the Freedom Foundation of Minnesota will invite conservatives from throughout Minnesota’s as we discuss the state of the movement and its future.  Plans are well underway for this inaugural event to be held this fall.
